THE new signs on the entrances to a town centre market now display the correct opening times - a month after the originals got them wrong.

In early December specially-designed new transfers were put on the windows and by the four main doors of Blackburn Market.

They said it traded from 8am to 5.30pm but it actually opens its doors at 8.30am and always has.

Last week the contractor responsible replaced them with the correct times at no cost of Blackburn with Darwen Council which owns the market below The Mall shopping centre.

Traders are delighted with the new sigange which im;lcudes graphics showing what is on offer fro m the stalls inside.

Now the council is to upgrade the internal signs to brighten up the market hall and help customers negotiate the various stalls on offer.

Lorraine Johnson, of Le RainFlorist, said: "I love the signs -especially the ones showing what is on offer in the market.

"We think they are great and are absolutely delighted. They really attract people in the town centre to the market.

"The times were just a small mistake and it didn't really matter. I can't wait for the new ones inside to brighten things up."

Clare Turner, council markets manager, said: "The signs were corrected last week at no cost ."
