A POLICE armed response unit and negotiators are still dealing with an ongoing incident near Hardendale Quarry, Shap, after a man was found with a shotgun in woodland yesterday evening.
Police said officers were contacted at 8pm yesterday (January 17) following concern for the welfare of a man in his 60s.
A search was carried out and the man was located at about 1am today with a shotgun in a woodland area near the quarry.

An armed response unit has been deployed as a precaution.
A police spokesperson said a cordon was in place. However there was no perceived risk to the public at this time.
Negotiations are also taking place at the scene in an effort to resolve the situation safely.
Members of the public are asked to not attend the area.
