A WOMAN who was 36 weeks pregnant was confronted by her friend's ex-partner after he kicked in the front door.

Blackburn magistrates heard the victim later received a message from Liam Ryan threatening her and saying her baby was better off dead.

And he said when he got out of prison he would "stuff" her and her boyfriend.

Ryan, 25, of Ivy Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to sending a threatening message to Nicole Smithson, using violence to secure entry to premises and damaging a door belonging to Demi Keane.

He was jailed for 26 weeks.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said Miss Smithson was visiting her friend when there was a loud banging from the front door. She saw it was Ryan and started to phone the police.

He kicked the front door in and stormed into the kitchen where she showed him she was already on the phone to the police.

Ryan lefty but the day after sent her the message challenging her boyfriend to a fight and making the comment about her baby.

David Lawson, defending, said it was conceded the offences were extremely unpleasant.

"The behaviour followed the end of the relationship and problems he was having seeing his children," said Mr Lawson.

"Binge drinking and taking crack cocaine have affected his behaviour."
