STANDARDS at a school for children with leaning difficulties including autism have been labelled outstanding.

Ofsted inspectors visited Broadfield Specialist School in Oswaldtwistle, in November, and a report detailing their findings is full of praise for staff and pupils.

The Fielding Lane school was found to be outstanding, having been given the same rating in 2015.

Reporting Inspector Mark Quinn said that the leadership team and the staff are highly aware of pupils' needs and that the school meets them extremely effectively.

He also said that pupils’ work and the school’s assessment information show that current pupils make very strong progress across the curriculum.

Headteacher Angela Wade expressed her joy at the outcome.

Mrs Wade said: "We are absolutely delighted with the outstanding outcome of our recent short inspection.

"The outcome is testament to the whole staff team who work extremely hard and are tirelessly dedicated to improving outcomes for our young people."
