A PERSONAL trainer is set to complete a 12-hour triathlon for charity.
John Cunliffe, 44, will complete the gruelling challenge at Blackburn’s pure gym, where he is a personal trainer, for the diabetes charity JDRF.
The 12-hour triathlon will consist of, four hours of rowing, four hours of cycling, and 4 hours of running.
Mr Cunliffe said: “I wanted to challenge myself again and prove that people over 40 can do anything, they just have to apply themselves.
“As a Personal Trainer my mantra is if I can change one person's life by doing what I love then my job is done.”
The married father of one, with a second child on the way, is completing the triathlon on January 28 to raise awareness for type 1 diabetes, which is incurable.
Type 1 diabetes is a serious, lifelong condition, where blood glucose level is too high, because the body cannot produce insulin.
There are approximately 400,000 people in the UK who live with type 1 diabetes, over 29,000 of which are children.
Mr Cunliffe added: “If what I have to go through changes just one person's life it will be worth it.”
Previously, the personal trainer has completed the Liverpool marathon, 50k ultra marathon, and various 10k runs all for various charities.
On March 24, Mr Cunliffe will run the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
