Owners of a group of luxury holiday cottages built on the site of a former mining pit are looking forward to expanding their amenities this spring.
Rossendale Holiday Cottages on Dean Lane in Water, opened in 2014 and since then, eight units have been built as well as fashionable glamping pods, which have attracted hundreds of people to the area.
Permission has now been granted for subterranean accommodation, which will be built into the hillside with a grass roof and is aiming to be opened in 2020.
And in the spring a children’s play area will be opening with a fort, zip wire and play equipment.
Owner of the 20-acre site, Jonny Wilson said: "We have a unique place here in a great location, the best facilities, staff and places for people to visit in Rossendale.
"We will be building eight luxury guest bedrooms, a swimming pool and health spa. We will be able to offer treatments and there will also be a small bar and bistro."
Mayor of Rossendale, Councillor Ann Kenyon said the development is a big asset to the Valley.
