DARWEN cricket star Alex Davies helped England and fellow Lancashire cricketer, Keaton Jennings, braved the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support and smash his fundraising target for six.

The 26-year-old opening batsman Jennings has been bowled over with the support for his hair-raising challenge, after so far reaching £5,000 – pulling in £2,000 more than his initial target.

Lancashire County Cricket Club teammate, Alex, ably assisted Sandro, from Flanagans Barbers in Manchester, with the clippers to give Keaton the ultimate ‘cut’.

While fellow England internationals Dom Bess, Olly Stone, Mark Wood and Sam Curran have all stumped up for the cause, as well as all-rounder Ben Stokes, who also made a hefty and ‘humbling’ donation.

Keaton said: “I come from a long family history of cancer and I would like to add some value and do my part in the fight against it. My grandad suffered from cancer, so did my gran and great uncle. Last year, my dad was hit with a cancer diagnosis and currently my aunt is facing intense chemotherapy after surgery. Cancer is one of the toughest challenges anyone can face and I wanted to do my part in supporting people living with cancer.”
