A CARE home has been praised by inspectors after it was rated good.

When Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors made an unannounced two-day visit in November to Sherwood House care home in Rishton, they concluded it was good for its safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.

The Clifton Street home provides accommodation and personal care for up to six older people.

Watchdogs gave the home the same rating it received in its last inspection in August 2016.

A CQC report reads: "We saw evidence that staff had been recruited safely and the staff we spoke with were aware of how to safeguard adults at risk of abuse.

"There were safe processes in place for the management of people's medicines."

The report added: "People living at the service told us they were happy with staffing levels and they received support from staff when they needed it."

"People liked the staff who supported them and felt that staff were kind and respectful.

"They told us staff respected their right to privacy and dignity and encouraged them to be independent."
