SHOCKING videos shared on WhatsApp show two gangs involved in a violent baseball bat brawl.

Mobile phone footage shows the men fighting at around 3pm on Thursday in New Bank Road, Blackburn.

The footage shows kicks and punches being thrown while the group moves up and down the street and some members of it wrestle each other to the ground.

One of the men can be seen taking a swing at another with a baseball bat as someone tries to break up the brawl.

Lancashire Telegraph:

An eyewitness said they were shocked to see a brawl break out in broad daylight.

They said: "I saw young lads with a baseball bat. There were several of them and they started fighting.

"One person tried to break things up. It was quite shocking to see this broad daylight at 3pm while women and children were walking down the street.

"The fight seemed to be over nothing."

The eyewitness said police were informed about the incident.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Cllr Jackie Floyd, who represents the area on Blackburn with Darwen Council, expressed her dismay at the fighting.

She said: "I'm saddened that behaviour such as this is happening on the streets.

"I'm very confident that the police will deal with it appropriately."

Cllr Tasleem Fazal, who also represents the area, said: "I've seen the video footage and I'm shocked by it. It's extremely disappointing.

"As councillors, we walk down the streets a lot and are looking to engage youths and teach them right from wrong and respect their elders and families.

"So this is not the type of behaviour we expect to see on our streets.

"The lack of police presence is also a concern as there's no deterrent and they probably feel as if they can get away with it."

Cllr Phil Riley, borough regeneration boss, also condemned the behaviour.

He said: "It's not the kind of behaviour we want to see in Blackburn or anywhere for the matter.

"I would like to hope that, if the images of the fighting are as clear as they seem to be, that the police will catch the culprits."

It is not the first time footage has captured a street fight in Blackburn.

In May, a brawl involving at least eight men was captured on video in Whalley Range, Blackburn.
