A TUMBLE dryer has been left severely damaged after it caught fire at a house.

Two fire crews attended the blaze in Torver Close, Burnley, at around 3pm on Thursday (January 3).

The incident involved a tumble dryer in the property which was left severely fire damaged.

The fire caused light smoke damage to the rest of the house.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to put out the fire and remained at the scene for around 45 minutes.

Nobody was injured.

A fire service spokesman said: "Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

"Crews remained at the scene for approximately forty five minutes.

"There were no casualties but severe fire damage to the tumble dryer and light smoke to the rest of the property."

The fire service say on their website that incidents involving tumble dryers can increase during the winter as people use them more.
