A GANG armed with machetes raided a home and attacked three people.
Six people burst into the house in Clement Street, Accrington, at 11pm on New Year’s Day, in what police said was a targeted attack.
One man is in hospital with stab wounds following the attack – and a woman, aged 55, has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
A second man refused medical treatment and the third victim, also a man, fled the house before police arrived.
Crime scene investigation officers were seen walking in and out of the back of the house and were also examining at least two pools of blood, found further up the street.
A police spokesman said: “We were called shortly after 11pm on Tuesday following reports of a disturbance at an address on Clement Street, Accrington.
"We attended and found three people had been assaulted after a group of approximately six people had entered the address armed with machetes.
"One of the victims is being treated at Royal Preston Hospital with stab wounds which are serious but not believed to be life-threatening.
"A second victim refused medical treatment and a third had left the address prior to police arrival.
"We have since arrested a 55-year-old woman from Accrington on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and she remains in custody.
"Our enquiries are ongoing but we believe this was a targeted attack and there is currently not thought to be any wider threat to the public.
"However we have increased patrols in the area as a precaution."
