A MAN was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs following a serious two-car collision.
A 37-year-old man from Bacup was arrested following the crash involving a Fiat Stilo and Toyota Yaris on Market Street in Whitworth on New Year's Day (January 1).
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6.45pm and the road was closed off.
Two fire crews from Bacup attended the incident and said they had to cut a man out of a car.
He was taken to hospital with suspected leg injuries.
A police spokesman said: "A 37-year-old man from Bacup was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink/drugs and has been released under investigation."
