VANDALS who attempted to break into a railway station have smashed an entrance door.
An orange safety barrier has been put up against the entrance of Blackburn Station near Subway, on Railway Road, which has been temporarily closed off to commuters.
Red tape has been put across it and cracked glass marks can be seen on the door.
There is another entrance door a few metres from the damaged one, which remains open.
Northern has notified British Transport Police about the incident, which took place overnight between Boxing Day and December 27.
A spokesman for Northern said: "A lock and door at Blackburn station was damaged, possibly by people attempting to gain entry to the station building sometime overnight between Wednesday, December 26 and Thursday, December 27.
"British Transport Police have been made aware and we are now working to complete repairs to the damaged door."
