A GROWING company hopes to expand, creating 12 new jobs in the process.

Spa Web Ltd wants to expand its warehouse on Altham Business Park, Metcalf Drive, Altham.

Under the proposals, there would also be an increase in staff and visitor car parking on the site and service and turning areas for delivery and dispatch vehicles.

Spa Web are part of the Oppermann Group of companies which is an international business.

The Spa Web operation not only manufactures lifting and load securing products but also imports and distributes products from the other companies within the group.

The application has been submitted by Jetglobal Limited, the owner of the building which is rented by Spa Web.

A design and access statement submitted as part of the application said the proposed warehouse extension will provide useful storage for raw materials and finished goods.

The document reads: "This will reduce the overall vehicle movements to and from the site.

"It will allow longer runs of production of each product providing economy of scale and the company will be able to buy raw materials in larger quantities.

"Current production has been reduced due to the shortage of storage space between production processes, the new warehouse will free up room and the production area will be expanded into the factory areas currently used for storage."

The number of staff on site has recently been increased from 34 to 41, with the additional seven members of staff currently being trained for the projected increase in production once the proposed warehouse has been completed.

A further five warehouse workers would then be needed.

Spa Web has grown from its acquisition in 2016 of £3m turnover and £350,000 stock to £5.8m with £1m stock in 2018 with predictions of £7m turnover and £2m stock held on site once the warehouse has been extended.

The document added: "The proposed warehouse is necessary if Spa Web are to remain in their current unit and continue to grow and trade in Hyndburn."
