A community radio station has relaunched in East Lancs.

Rossendale Radio took to the airwaves on Saturday on 104.7fm at 10.47am.

The new station, which aims to serve listeners in the Rossendale Valley, was granted funding from The Big Lottery Fund and has been fully approved by Ofcom.

Company Chairman, Peter Sweetmore said: "The launch, timed to coincide with the station's 104.7fm frequency, is the pinnacle of the work put in since we applied to the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund for a grant in June last year.

"We were delighted to receive the news of our award, totalling £75,000, which will be split over five years and will help with the running costs.

"We are excited to bring community radio back in the Valley, on air 24/7, it's a very exciting time."

Rossendale Radio is always on the look out for new volunteers and fundraisers, and if anyone would like to help they should contact the station via Facebook, or email info@rossendaleradio.com.
