A LANDLADY has been left 'heartbroken' after a burglar ransacked her pub on Christmas Eve.
At around 2.30am CCTV at the Abbey Hotel in Accrington caught a thief breaking into the pub and stole charity boxes for Cancer Research, Marie Curie, Derian House and East Lancashire Hospice.
Lorraine Morris said the offender also stole a laptop and tubes containing charity money as well as smashing up and stealing bottled beers and spirits.
Mrs Morris, who has been at the pub for almost 12 years, said: "He returned, after throwing all of the empty charity boxes in a neighbouring bin, with a rucksack and continued to ransack the premises.
"We are heartbroken, we are really, really upset at what has happened here.
"Any information would be very much appreciated.
"Considering the time of year, it's been a heard one."
Mrs Morris said the pub will remain open during the festive period.
Mrs Morris said she has spoken to police about the theft.
