LABOUR has called for the resignation a Ribble Valley Conservative politician from his post as chairman of a Lancashire County Council Committee.
It says Cllr Alan Schofield used his position in charge of the Audit, Risk and Governance Committee to criticise Labour leader and Nelson East's Cllr Azhar Ali over his award of grants when in charge of the authority's health portfolio.
His deputy Cllr John Fillis said this was a clear failure of his duty to follow the advice of officers who said the grant awards were lawful.
Ribble Valley South-West's Cllr Schofield said: "These are spurious statement and accusations."
Last week's Full County Council backed the committee's conclusions.
