CLITHEROE rockers Good Foxy will unwrap their psychedelic selection box of festive goodies when they celebrate a Christmas homecoming at the Grand theatre tomorrow.

And guitarist Henry Crabtree has revealed that thee follow-up to their acclaimed debut album, Beneath the Weeping Sky, is pencilled in for a New Year release.

“The songs are pretty much done, we are very excited,” said Crabtree.

“There’s some quiet songs and some heavy songs, and we can’t wait to play the Clitheroe show, it is always one of the most special gigs of the year.”

Christmas would not be Christmas, without a visit from Good Foxy and their annual festive show on home soil.

He added: “A couple of us live in Manchester now, so we don’t get to see as many of our Clitheroe mates as we used to, so this is going to be a big party.”

Good Foxy have enjoyed a rollercoaster of a ride since they lifted the Lancashire Telegraph-backed Reidy’s Talent contest in 2014, shortly after their first gig at the Kings Arms in the town.

They have starred alongside rock veterans Status Quo and their bruising set at last summer’s Beat-Herder festival went down a treat in the fields of Dockber Farm before they got stuck in to recording their new LP at the Grand’s studio.

“Beat-Herder was so special and playing there gave us another dimension to the festival because we all love going there,” added Crabtree.

“We are not about fashion, people looking cool or anything like that, we just want to feel the music.

“We’ve done it our own way, kept plugging away, and hopefully everybody will love the new songs.

“It’s lovely, because folk seem to be excited by what we do.”

Good Foxy will be supported by a cast of young bands from the theatre’s Be My Band project.

Be My Band, based at the Grand Theatre, is aimed at encouraging youngsters to improve their skills by playing in a band and embracing music.

“It is fantastic that all Good Foxy’s support at the concert has emerged through Be My Band, and it shows the super talent we have in the Ribble Valley,” said the Grand’s learning co-ordinator Ivana Douglas.

“I’m a musician at heart and wish I’d had this tremendous opportunity when I was their age, because the Be My Band sessions give them a real taste of live music and it’s so exciting for the youngsters.

“They will not just be playing in front of mum and dad and a few friends tomorrow, they will be on stage showcasing their skills at an incredible venue.”
