ENTREPRENEUR Camilla Ainsworth missed out in the final of the Apprentice.

The Blackburn businesswoman had made it down to the final two in the BBC show – but on Sunday night viewers saw Lord Sugar pick rival Sian Gabbidon

Over the last 12 weeks, 16 budding entrepreneurs have been put through their paces by Lord Sugar.

Candidates have faced a series of tough tasks ranging from creating an advertising campaign for a budget airline to negotiating and buying local items in Malta, manufacturing and selling a range of upmarket doughnuts to becoming art dealers for the day at a gallery event in Glasgow.

For the last challenge, Sian and Camilla had to prove to Lord Sugar why they deserved to receive his £250,000 investment.

Candidates fired earlier in the series returned to help the two finalists bring their business plans to life and to aid them in the lead up to their pitches to Lord Sugar and his panel of industry experts.

In the final boardroom, Karren and Claude gave their thoughts about the finalists’ performance – with both speaking highly of Camilla's business plan for her nut milk product.

Karren said: “Camilla, to me, is a typical entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is someone who spots a gap in the market, and universally her product was liked, and that is almost incredible at a taste testing and amongst the experts – I really, really think she’s on to something."

Claude added:“The interesting thing is she’s going for 15% nut content where the market is at 2% or 3%, so she is offering a completely different product. However, high nut content, high cost.”

After a last impassioned pitch from each finalist Lord Sugar made his final decision.

He said: “Camilla, I’ve said to you earlier on, I find you a big risk, a very, very big risk. Having said that, there is a growing market here.

"Sian, it’s a crowded market – that’s a big, big concern for me, but you are an expert in your field, and you are a good designer, there’s no question of that.

"I think that yours is a growing market Camilla, and yours is a massive market Sian, it’s very tough for me to make a decision.

"But on reflection, Sian, you have a great aptitude and a talent for design – you’re going to be my business partner.”
