AN apprentice from Accrington is set to compete with young guns from across the UK at a national awards competition.
Students at Accrington and Rossendale College were asked to created a detailed wooden coffee table.
And Oliver Shipstone's effort was judged most impressive, with Dean Chester placed second and Charlie Nuttall third.
Oliver will now test his skills alongside rivals from 12 other colleges in the Gorilla Glue Apprentice of the Year finals, by engineering his own upcycling project, to win a tools bundle worth £500.
College carpentry leader Gary Nolan said: "The learners really enjoyed the competition element and have produced some very nice examples and the atmosphere within the workshops was one of comradery and challenge."
