THE funeral of a 30-year-old man who died of a heart attack in his Cambodian hotel room could take place next week.

William Magee was found dead in the Boeung Chhouk Guest House, south Cambodia, on November 27.

His family thanked the public for raising £8,500 towards the £6,700 cost of bringing Mr Magee home. The remaining money has gone to the cost of Mr Magee’s funeral.

Step-sister Charlotte Bradshaw said the family was overwhelmed by the response.

The 36-year-old, from Barrowford, said: “A huge thank-you to the amazing support we have had. William was only 30 and had his whole life ahead of him.

“It has been a traumatic time for the family and people have been so kind with their donations.

“It has been such an overwhelming response and these acts of kindness help to restore your faith in humanity.”

The British national had been travelling overseas and spent several months in Cambodia training locals about online advertising, social media and English.

He had previously worked for local marketing agencies, including Fifty2one Ltd in Clitheroe and RS Digital Ltd in Nelson.

His funeral is expected to take place next Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Queen Street, Colne, All family and friends are welcome.

The service will be followed by a wake at the Union Exchange, Market Street, Colne.
