A MAN was left with a cut to his face following a robbery in an alleyway.

The 22-year-old victim received the wound from two men at the back of Wordsworth Street, in the direction of Woodbine Road, Burnley on Monday at around 5.15pm.

A sharp weapon had been used to cut his face after the men had kicked the victim to the ground and stolen his wallet, which contained cash.

The suspects then ran from the scene, in the direction of Woodbine Road and left the victim with facial injuries.

Det Con Rhiannon Cosgrove, of Burnley Police, said: “The victim has been left with injuries, including a cut to his face, simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"We are asking anyone with information about the incident, or who saw two men acting suspiciously in the area, to get in touch as soon as possible.”

The offenders are described as being around 6ft tall and both wearing black clothing, including black hoodies and dark face coverings.
