A FORMER St Mary’s College pupil has written a hilarious travel book after leaving her job to go gallivanting around the world, in a caravan, with her husband and four dogs.

Fur Babies in France - Adventure Caravanning with Dogs - From Wage Slaves to Living the Dream, was released through Amazon on December 4 and Mrs Lambert says it has already received five-star reviews online.

The book documents Mrs Lambert's travels, as she makes her way across Europe and gives readers a humourous insight into all the mishaps and misadventures she experienced along the way.

The 54-year-old from Feniscowles said: "I wrote the book in order to show people that there are alternative ways to living and you don’t have to be a millionaire to live your dreams.

"The book has sold very well in its first week and I am rather chuffed to have received such positive reviews so quickly."

When both Mrs Lambert and her husband were made redundant just over a year ago, they decided to cut their losses, buy a few dogs and purchase a caravan.

And while celebrating their new found freedom they made another brave decision - to leave the rat race behind and take off on the adventure of a lifetime.

Within a month, they had sold most of their possessions on eBay and rented out their apartment so they could travel across the globe full-time.

Mrs Lambert said: "We called it ‘early retirement’ and set out to live the dream and even took our surfboards on the roof.

Based on Jackie’s travel blog, which she penned while on the road, Fur Babies in France is the true story of their first year on wheels.

Mrs Lambert added: "It was a steep learning curve and one that involved lots of breakages.

"We even started on day one with a near-death experience, however, after figuring out how to avoid the crowds, we toured France by the back roads and finally found what we were looking for - beauty, peace and tranquillity, with a bit of windsurfing thrown in."

Mrs Lambert’s book is available to buy on Amazon as an ebook and paperback.

Her second book in the Adventure Caravanning with Dogs series, Dog on the Rhine – From Rat Race to Road Trip, about the couple’s second-year touring Germany, The Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy, will be released on Amazon on March 1 2019.
