A FORMER Burnley FC footballer has denied sexually assaulting a woman on a train.
Football star Paul Gascoigne was arrested at Durham Railway Station in August after an incident on a train travelling from York To Durham.
Gascoigne, 51, pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault by touching at Peterlee Magistrates' Court.
The former England international made six appearances for the Clarets during the 2001-02 season in the First Division.
He also played for Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Rangers and Lazio and was capped 57 times for England.
Gascoigne reached the semi-finals of the Fifa World Cup with England in 1990.
He will appear before Teeside Crown Court on January 8.
