Tributes have been paid to a woman who was found dead at a house.

The 48-year-old, named locally as Pauline Jackson, was found at a house in Rudd Street, Haslingden on Sunday.

A man who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday following the incident has been released under investigation.

Paramedics were seen at the house at 3pm for around an hour before police officers were called.

Police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her death is being treated as unexplained.

Police also said she had a number of injuries.

A post mortem to establish her cause of death was due to take place yesterday afternoon.

Many took to social media to pay tribute to Pauline.

Helen King said: "So sad my heart goes out to the young woman's family what should be a happy time is always going to be their worst, RIP."

Antonella Brollini said: "So sad, my thoughts and prayers are with the lady's friends and family."

Kimberley Burnett said: "So sad thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends at this sad time."

Anthony Judson said: "RIP to the lady condolences to her family and friends."

One Rudd Street resident said: "They were there for about an hour before the police were called.

"I'm guessing they were trying to save her as they kept taking in medical equipment into the house.

"The police took a body out in a body bag.

"A man from the house was also put into the police car.

"It's so sad to see someone has died, I had spoke to the woman who lived there before, but it was a long time ago and I didn't know her very well."

A police guard remained outside the house yesterday.

A police spokesman said: "A 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released under investigation."
