THE FAMILY of a missing man have said they are 'worried sick' following his disappearance.
Family say David Antony Thompson, 55, was on the verge of a breakdown before he went missing from his nephew's home in Leigh, Greater Manchester, on December 8.
Mr Thompson, who left the house at around 2am, is from Blackburn but had been visiting family in Manchester.
His brother Dennis Thompson said: "We are all so worried about him. He wasn't in a great way in the days before he left and we really don't know what to think.
"He had a long-standing diagnosis of psychosis and was taking medication but over the last six months he'd stopped taking it.
"We were already concerned about him before he went missing and we got him to take some of his prescription, but now he has gone missing."
Dennis added that David left the address in a blue Peugeot 206.
It is understood that Mr Thompson had visited his mother's home in Blackburn the day before he went missing.
Dennis said: "Nobody has seen or heard from him. This is very out of character and nothing like this has ever happened before. If anyone knows anything, please get in touch with the police."
David was last seen wearing a navy Lonsdale jacket with red and white trim on the cuffs and collar. He was in blue jeans and blue Timberland shoes. He could also be wearing a McKenzie bubble jacket.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were aware of David's disappearance.
He said: "Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with the log reference number 902 of December 8"
