MOTORISTS faced rush-hour delays this morning after an accident involving five cars on a main road into Blackburn.

Drivers experienced delays as police are at the top of Billinge Avenue and Preston New Road near the roundabout for an incident.

A motorist, who did not wish to be named, said: "Traffic is backed up heading out of Blackburn.

"From what I could see there were about three cars involved.

"That road is a nightmare at this time anyway and traffic will be affected."

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "The call came into us at 7.30am this morning.

"It involved five cars at the junction of the roundabout.

"There were no injuries reported.

"The road was blocked initially but it has now been cleared."
