A GYM within a leisure centre will close later this week ahead of a refurbishment.
Work on Darwen Leisure Centre’s gym renovation, which will include an updated layout, state-of-the-art equipment and new flooring, will begin on Thursday.
It means that the fitness area will not be accessible to users from that day onwards.
A reopening date for the gym has yet to be confirmed, but bosses have said it is expected to be completed in the New Year.
Studio classes, sports hall activities and swimming will remain unaffected.
The cost of the changes will come from a £35,000 fund for lease and maintenance costs for gym equipment, which is included in Blackburn with Darwen council’s annual budget.
A spokesman for Darwen Leisure Centre said: “We would like to thank members for their patience so far, and we look forward to welcoming you back into our new gym in 2019.”
Customers have been reminded that members that can use the gyms at Witton Park Arena and Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre as part of their membership.
