A PUB owner along with dozens of volunteers helped spread Christmas cheer to those who needed it.

Carole Davis, owner of The Clifton Arms in Blackburn, gathered up socks, hats and gloves, along with hundreds of toiletries, to give away to the homeless.

The team also put on hot and cold food to feed those who do not have a regular place to stay.

Christmas hampers were handed out to elderly people in the town who may struggle to afford enough food over the winter.

Mrs Davis said: “This has been a great year once again.

“We have been feeding the homeless and helping those in crisis for five years.

“It’s our ‘Giving Tuesday’, we’re always doing some kind of fundraising and had the idea of giving a seasonal boost to those who may be suffering from ill-health or are possibly a little bit isolated.

“Everyone involved, including the homeless and those in crisis, are the true heart of the community.

“We at the Clifton Arms applaud you all and we will continue to support you when we can.”
