A TEENAGE girl reported missing by her grandma was found mud splattered and heavily inebriated on the A59 near Clitheroe.

Blackburn magistrates heard Tiegan Phillips was in an agitated state when she told police she had been taking cocaine and drinking spirits.

In court she denied taking drugs but said she couldn't remember getting out of the taxi.

"I do remember running through the field and thinking I would never get out," she told the court.

Phillips, 19, of Lime Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in A & E at Royal Blackburn Hospital. She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £50 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said when she was found Phillips was soaking wet and covered in mud.

"She was extremely agitated and couldn't keep still and had to be taken to hospital," said Miss Allan.

A police officer had to travel in the ambulance with Phillips who was very aggressive.

"The driver had to stop the ambulance several times during the journey so the officer could regain control of the defendant," said Miss Allan. "Her unruly behaviour continued in the A & E department and at one stage she tried to run away and pushed past a member of staff wheeling a trolley and knocked her to the floor.

"She said she didn't care if there were ill people there, she needed help, and accused everyone of ganging up on her.

Phillips told the court her gran told her she had reported her missing and she immediately left. She went to a shop and bought a bottle of jaegermeister which she was drinking from the bottle.

"I got a taxi home but I can't remember getting out of it," she said. "I didn't have any drugs and I can't understand how I ended up on the A59."

She said she had been engaging with drink and drugs agencies and there was talk of a rehabilitation placement.

"I didn't get home and I don't know what happened and this is what makes me feel I need some help," she added.
