A festive gala is taking place at Blackburn Cathedral this evening.
The Christmas concert will feature a piece of work called 'On Christmas Night', which has been composed by Bob Chilcott and is a musical celebration of the Christmas story told in eight movements.
Mr Chilcott's composition will be performed by the choirs of Blackburn Cathedral, with a number of local school choirs also taking part, including Brookside Primary School, Clitheroe; Vocalise Youth Choir from Blackburn; Trinity CE School, Buckshaw Village, Chorley; and Meadowhead Primary, Blackburn.
The Northern Chamber Orchestra are set to play and will conducted by Cathedral musical director Samuel Hudson.
The concert, which also includes a selection of seasonal songs, starts at 7pm.
