THE TRIP to Blackpool for a national dance competition proved well worth whole for a Cumbrian troupe who came home laden with trophies.

The MG Dance Academy, which is based at Hallgarth Community Centre in Kendal and also meets in Keswick, won first prize for a new entry in the senior troupe section as the team, who are aged from 13 to 32, performed an energetic routine to the song 'Feel It Still.'

And the junior troupe, who were dressed as 'Fantastic Beasts' in a routine roughly based on the film, with the main characters played by Milly Lewthwaite, Molly Robinson, Zara Whittam, Elise Wilson and Olivia Marsden, also impressed the judges and gained a creditable fourth place.

Melanie Preston, who runs the academy, also performed two senior dances for Maria France's School of Dance, where she has been a pupil for many years, and placed first and second with her routines.
