THE latest Ofsted inspection figures show that its ratings for Lancashire County Council's schools are better than the North-West regional average.

Its statistics show that 92 per cent of Lancashire’s primary age pupils attend schools that have been judged good or outstanding.

This compares to the national average of 87 per cent, and to the North West figure of 90 per cent.

The report reveals that 73 per cent of the county’s secondary pupils attend schools judged to be good or outstanding compared to the North-West average of 67 per cent.

Cllr Susia Charles, the county council’s edcuation boss, said: “I’m really proud of these results. They are a testament to the high quality of the teaching in our schools and the commitment of pupils and their families to learning.

"They show the overall standard of education in Lancashire is up there with the best. We certainly won’t rest on our laurels though."
