A MAN was taken to hospital after a lorry crashed into a tree.

Emergency services were called to the A56, near Foulridge, after a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) smashed into a tree today shortly before 2.30pm.

The driver of the vehicle has been sent to Royal Blackburn Hospital but no one else has been reported injured.

Delays are expected for motorists as diversions have been put in in place around the scene of the crash at the top of Skipton Road and Langroyd Road near Colne.

The A56 Skipton New Road is also closed both ways.
