HUNDREDS of people defied the rain to packed Bacup town centre on Saturday for the town's Christmas Market and lights switch on.
Entertainment, including brass band music, gave the event a seasonal swing along with fairground rides and a host of other activities.
The switch on itself at 4.30pm in Irwell Terrace was the culmination of the festivities.
Greensclough councillor James Eaton said: "Hundreds of people came despite the wet weather.
"It was very busy and a fine festive event.
"It showed Bacup and its people at their best as they braved the rain to come put and take part."
There will be entertainment was organised by the Bacup Now community group supported by Rossendale Council.
