PEOPLE have been urged to have their say on the future of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The AONB partnership is asking everyone to comment on its new draft management plan, which will run from early 2019 to 2024.

The plan will help conserve and enhance the quality of the landscape and ensure its beauty is maintained, with the wildlife and land preserved for the future.

Elliott Lorimer, principal AONB officer for the Forest of Bowland, said: "The Partnership has been reviewing the plan since the spring and now we're keen to hear what people think about our objectives for the next five years, which set out how we aim to look after the Forest of Bowland's outstanding landscape, wildlife and heritage".

The Forest of Bowland AONB 312 square miles and was designated as an AONB in 1964.

It is known for its heather moorland, blanket bog and rare birds such as the Hen Harrier.

It encompasses 18 parishes within Lancashire and Yorkshire and hosts four rivers.
