COUNCIL meetings are set to be live streamed next year.

Burnley Council have approved plans to install cameras to live stream meetings and are expected to be put up from February.

It is hoped the streams will encourage more residents to watch meetings. The cost of the initiative has yet to be decided.

Cllr Lian Pate, executive member for community and leisure, supports the idea, and has said: "People can listen to what councillors say from the comfort of their own home and will not have to rely on minutes.

"The councillors are up for it because it's like having a large audience watching."
