THREE separate accidents have resulted in road closures around East Lancashire this evening.

Grane Road

Grane Road has been closed for over an hour now as emergency services deal with an accident.

Traffic is heavy in the area and surrounding roads are currently experiencing a high level of congestion.

A Blackburn with Darwen council spokesman said: "Whilst the location of the collision is not within our borough, it will have a knock-on effect for anyone making journeys via Grane Road this evening.

"As a result, roads around Grane Road and Guide/Haslingden Road are extremely busy.

"For journeys to the M66, we advise to use M65 eastbound to J8, then take the A56 and merge onto M66."

There are also higher than normal levels of congestions around Royal Blackburn Hospital with public transport services affected by the crash.

St Huburts Road, Great Harwood

Emergency services are currently dealing with a second accident on St Huburts Road in Great Harwood.

Motorists are asked not to travel along the road and to think of an alternative route.

Sources from the scene suggest a boy on a bike has collided with a car.

Whalley New Road/ Parsonage Road

The council are urging people to find an alternative route following a crash at the junction of Whalley New Road and Parsonage Road.

Emergency services are currently at the scene with queues beyond Ego at The Knowles Arms.
