A MAN has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault on a seven year old boy in a Sainsbury's supermarket.

Detectives released pictures and CCTV footage of a man they wanted to speak to in relation to the incident, which took place at the Sainsbury's store in Active Way, Burnley.

Police said the youngster was approached by a man and was sexually assaulted between 1.25pm and 1.45pm on Sunday.

A 38-year old has now been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detective sergeant Rob Trickett said: “This is an extremely concerning assault on a young boy.

“The boy and his family are being supported by officers.”
