A BOLTON MP has set his will against plans to create a new employment hub on green space.

Chris Green MP for Bolton West says the community he represents is angered by developments on green spaces and the prospect of increased traffic.

The Harworth Group Plc, which runs Logistics North in Over Hulton has created the proposal. Consultations took place in July and residents can comment on applications until December 13.

Mr Green said: "Local residents are becoming increasingly frustrated with the development of our green spaces and these proposed plans will see even more of our irreplaceable green spaces being destroyed.

“Congestion is also bad enough on Westhoughton’s roads and surrounding motorway junctions and this development will only bring more cars to the area, on top of the already increasing amount of car users as a result of the undirected house building in the area.

“While local jobs and employment should be supported where possible, Bolton Council need to improve our current highways infrastructure before enabling unsuitable ventures like this to go ahead.

“These plans will only make the ongoing problems on our roads even worse and see the further destruction of our green spaces and I will be writing to the council, urging them to prevent this development.”

Cllr David Chadwick who has the responsibility for transport and highways said: "I would like to remind Chris Green, it's his government and the coalition previously that have savaged the council budgets."
