DRIVERS have been warned to be extra careful on the roads this morning with reports of black ice in some areas.
The North West Motorway Police is also issuing safety advice about making sure cars are cleared of ice before setting off.
The black ice warning comes after a crash on the junction six westbound slip road of the M65, a number of vehicles were involved and there is a closure in place in the area.
The police force has Tweeted to say: "Please ensure you clear your windscreens before taking to the roads today.
"Ensure your lights are working and screen wash topped up to winter strength.
"Safe journey to all."
