A MAN, woman and child were taken to hospital after a car crashed into a garden wall.

Police and paramedics were called to Green Lane, Blackburn, at 8.35am yesterday after a blue Volkswagen Golf smashed into a garden wall and a bollard.

Catherine Hastwell, who lives in Green Lane, said the man, who was the driver, got out of the car and was injured.

Lancashire Telegraph:

She said: “The gentleman leaving the car had blood dripping down his face from his head.

“All the airbags had been deployed and a wheel was missing.

“I think there were young children in the back but they seemed okay.”

The incident took place near to St Bede's RC High School.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Jim Birchall, another Green Lane resident, said: “I didn’t see the crash but I heard a loud bang.

“I went outside and saw the car had gone through the wall.

“The police and ambulance service were there really quickly and treated some people.

“It looked like no one was in a serious way.

“The car must have only just missed my van parked on the roadside.”

A wing mirror and pieces of the car could be seen within the rubble of the wall, of which around half had been knocked over.

A bollard had been knocked over and scratch marks could be seen on the pavement.

Lancashire Telegraph:

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle.

“A rapid response car and two ambulances were sent to the scene.

“A man, a woman and a child were treated and taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital.”

A police spokesman said the man suffered injuries to his head and no arrests had been made.
