THE family of a charity stalwart who died of cancer has donated £2,041 raised in her memory to Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Mandy Wilson, from Clitheroe, who died last month, helped Rosemere Cancer Foundation raise funds, actively working as a volunteer alongside husband Roger.

She was also a member of Ribble Valley breast cancer support group Breast Friends and had taken part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life

Mandy had been diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and was given the all clear following extensive treatment.

However, another cancer materialised at the beginning of this year and Mandy was told this time, it was terminal.

Despite her diagnosis, Mandy and Roger continued their charity work, organising a late summer fundraising evening for Rosemere Cancer Foundation at Low Moor Club that raised more than £800.

At her funeral last month, Mandy, who is mum to Diane, Gillian and Joanne, a nana to eight grandchildren and a great grandma of three, was given a standing ovation and a round of applause by those gathered at St Mary’s Church, Clitheroe, to say their goodbyes.

Husband Roger said: “We would like to thank everyone for their kindness and their generous donations made in Mandy’s name to Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

"She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

"The money will go towards the refurbishment of Rosemere Cancer Centre’s Ribblesdale Ward.”

Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria.
