Hundreds are expected to gather in Blackburn town centre when East Lancashire Hospice host a very special Christmas service.

Light up a Life is an annual service which allows those who have lost loved ones to make a dedication in their honour, usually in a Book of Remembrance.

This year though, instead of commemorating in the book, the hospice is giving people the chance to dedicate a 'star' on their website.

The 'stars' will then be displayed in a video which will be projected onto a big screen inside the Cathedral during the service.

Light up a Life has already received hundreds of dedications, which can be viewed on the East Lancashire Hospice website, and donations for the service are still being accepted.

Led by the Very Reverend Peter Howell-Jones, Dean of Blackburn, Light up a Life will take place on Monday December 10 at 7.30pm.

It is open to anyone who wishes to attend and make a dedication.
