A FUNERAL service will be held for Charlie Procter tomorrow.

The five-year-old, from Church, died in his parents’ arms 11 days ago after a three-year battle with a rare form of cancer.

His story captured the heart of thousands of people around the world.

Around £360,000 had been raised to help the family get Charlie the potentially life-saving treatment in the US, including a £10,000 donation from pop singer Pink.

However it was not enough to save Charlie who died shortly after 11pm on November 9.

Charlie’s mother Amber Schofield yesterday announced on Facebook her son’s funeral would be taking place this week.

A public funeral will be held at St Paul’s Church, on Hornby Street, Oswaldwistle from 2pm.

After the church service a private celebration of Charlie’s life will take place.

On Facebook she said: “We’ve had a lot of people asking if they can pay their respects to Charlie and there is so many amazing people who have supported and helped try to save our Charlie that we would like to welcome everyone to Charlie’s funeral service.

“Although everyone is welcome to the service, after this, we ask that only those who are close to Charlie join us in Charlie’s celebration of life. Thank you again to everyone who has support my baby. I will never forgot how much not only our town came together but also how much the world came together. We are forever grateful."
