A BLACKBURN student has worked with experts to get a foot in the door of a career in the TV industry.

Edge Hill student Anabelle Healey, 18, a former pupil at Blackburn College, worked on a mock TV magazine which was overseen by TV industry professionals, including John Kirby whose recent live directing credits include Last Night Of The Proms and the Royal Wedding between Meghan and Harry.

Other professionals including a vision mixer, floor manager, script supervisor, gallery producer and camera operator were on set to give specialised one on one training, hands-on tuition and provide advice about how best to get into the television industry.

Anabelle, a first year television production management student, played the role of a runner.

“This has been a really good opportunity to take part in a real-life situation,” said Anabelle. “I’ve been able to see exactly what happens on set and I think it will prepare me for my future career goals of becoming either a casting director or a series producer.”

Mr Kirby has been working with Edge Hill for the last five years and enjoys giving students the opportunity to ask questions and be encouraged, in an industry standard environment.
