A PENSIONER who was knocked down by a car after attending a Remembrance service in Pendle has now died, police have confirmed.
The 85-year-old, who was named locally as Jack Parkinson, was struck by a Toyota Aygo as he crossed close to the junction of Burnley Road and Halifax Road, in Brierfield.
He was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary, with serious head injuries.
The driver of the Aygo, a 17-year-old boy from Nelson, was not hurt.
Mr Parkinson was understood to have been attending a service at Brierfield Baptist Church, in Guilford Street, with his family.
Church officials told the Lancashire Telegraph that members of the congregation were saying prayers for Mr Parkinson and his family.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said today that the 85-year-old had since died.
An appeal has previously been issued for witnesses to the incident, with anyone who saw the crash, at around 11.20am on Sunday, being asked to ring the non-emergency number 101, quoting log number 0557 of November 11.
