A MAN launched a prolonged attack on his partner when he returned home and found she had smashed a photograph of them.

Blackburn magistrates heard Daniel Shaun Davidson repeatedly punched, kicked and kneed his partner in their bedroom.

He followed her downstairs and attacked her again before she eventually crawled into the living room where he pinned her down and put his hand over her nose and mouth.

Davidson then shouted at her; "Look what you have made me do." and she apologised to try and calm him down.

Davidson, 37, of Gordon Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm. He was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced on December 20.

The court was told he had previous convictions for assaults on previous partners in 2001 and 2009.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said the victim described Davidson as having a short temper and his mood could change very quickly.

She had been thinking of leaving because she was frightened of him but decided to stay when he started being nice to her.

They had been out together for a drink but as soon as they got home at about midnight he said he had to go back out.

"She went to bed and threw a picture of them causing it to break," said Mrs Mann.

"In the morning she had some missed calls from him and she rang him and told him not to come home. He came back a few minutes later, saw the broken photograph and attacked her."

After the attack Davidson became drowsy and his partner managed to find the front door key and let herself out.

"She went to a nearby shop and called the police," said Mr Mann.

Gareth Price, defending, said his client accepted an immediate prison sentence was inevitable.

"He gives a slightly different picture of the events but accepts he has behaved badly," said Mr Price. "Finding the smashed picture upset him and he accepts he lost his temper."
