A DARING Darrener scaled new heights for Rosemere Cancer Foundation – the charity for which he works – by climbing a remote section of the Great Wall of China.
Dan Hill has just returned from spending six days trekking the wall as head of a 17-strong expedition party of supporters - an endeavour that look sets to achieve around £30,000 for Rosemere.
Dan said said: “The trip itself couldn’t have gone better. Everyone got on with one another, our local guides were great, the weather perfect and the wall and scenery exceeded expectation.”
Joining him on some of his training exercises and members of the Great Wall group were consultant plastic surgeon Dr Jeyeram Srinivasan and his wife Krishna. Dr Srinivasan works for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and also, at Blackburn’s Beardwood Hospital.
In addition, there were four Great Wall walkers - Clitheroe’s Sue Laycock and Gillian Newton, West Bradford’s David Bristol and Bolton-by-Bowland’s Chrissie Baines.
