TRIBUTES have been paid to a long-serving doctor who died suddenly, aged 65.

Dr Win Myint, of Elgar Close, Blackburn, worked in obstetrics and gynaecology for 41 years.

His career saw him work as a doctor at Burnley General Teaching Hospital where he was a member of the obstetrics and gynaecology team.

He died on Saturday, October 27.

Fiona Hamer, clinical director for family care at East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and a colleague of Dr Myint, described him as a much-loved and dedicated member of the team.

She said: “We are extremely sad and shocked to announce the death of Dr Myint.

“Win was a much-loved and dedicated member of the obstetrics and gynaecology team and is greatly missed by those who worked with him, as well as the many patients he treated and cared for during his 30-year career.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”

Dr Myint was the husband of Thazin Than and father of May Thazin Myint and Tun Win Myint.

His funeral took place at Pleasington Crematorium on Wednesday, November 7.

Dr Myint’s family paid tribute to a man who had an astounding impact on the lives of so many.

They said in an acknowledgement in the Lancashire Telegraph after his funeral: “The family of the late Dr Win Myint wish to express their sincere thanks to all for the kind words and gestures during this sad bereavement.

“No words could ever convey the gratitude we felt in the overwhelming number of people who travelled so far to show their love and respect to a good man: and for sharing with us all your treasured anecdotes of the astounding impact he had on the lives of so many, both within and outside of his 41-year profession in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.”
